Student Success Statement

Dean Smith was known as a legendary coach. Coach Smith never said "I" he said "We", he always shook the other coaches hand after a game, and never disrespected anyone. Coach Smith was so legendary they names the basketball center after him. He never took any of the credit even when he maybe should have a little. He was a great coach and he made a great team.

This quote shows us how even those he was the coach he was a true team player. Most coaches don't really remember you after you leave but not Coach Smith. Smith keeps in contact at least 1 time a year and not because he has to.

Coach Smith sets an example for all of us and we should learn a lesson. None of us should want greatness, yet we should all strive for greatness. Smith did what he thought was right and that made him legendary. Just imagine what would happen if everyone would do what they think is right. This would would be way more than extraordinary.

Maybe if we were all more like Coach Smith there would be less violence, less crime period. We would all just be humble and pleasant instead of violent and horrifying. Many things can change when you choose the right. It might not always go the way you want it to but it can never go horribly wrong. Unless the thing your trying to correct was horrifyingly wrong.

   In the video clip Mr.Haymore showed us Dr.Paush was currently fighting cancer. He fought even though he knew the outcome. He believed that achieving your dreams has way more meaning to it then what we really think. He believed achieving your dream was achieving everything in life for a specific person. 
 Not all people set goal for themselves a lot take over family business and others just work there whole life. There are few who actually plan and if you have a dream to be something then you can have all the perks there are. You can even make your own company as well, as long as you can get some investors. 
  For those people who don't have goals, they are most likely to struggle. For those that do they will have something to be proud of and someone else will also be proud. Another perk is if you do so well then you can retire early and have your family live comfortable.
You can always change your dream and its always okay to fail;. You can fail as long as you get right back up. It might take a little longer to reach your goal but a little hard work never hurt anyone.

Educating the body, mind, and character

This quote by Theodore Roosevelt shows us how our body, mind, and character is the most important part for this nation. The reason its good for our nation is because if you strive for greatness or if you are determined and have a strong mind, healthy body and great character then your the type of person a nation needs to strive. All great leaders are health strong minded brilliant people. They had their own opinions and they made there own great set of rules.For example, Martin Luther King was a great leader. MLK was healthy and Strong minded. He was determined to have equal rights because that what a person deserves. No body should have to look down on others or have to be restricted to certain things in life that isn't the melting pot everyone comes for.

A person who doesn't have a good body, strong mind or great personality shouldn't be frowned a pond just needs encouragement. There are many things we must change in this nation and it all starts on someone working on themselves. 

Volunteer Opportunities.

There are many volunteer opportunities. Such as:
1) Pet Shelters
2) Hospitals
3) After School Programs
4) Helping out a Coach or Teacher
5) Babysit kids while their parents are at work
6) Help out Parent Centers at Schools
7) Feed the Homeless
8) Help get Donations of food for a Food Drive
9) Christmas Toy Drive for those who can't afford presents
10) Help at a Retirement Center

Personal I volunteer helping a volleyball coach at Henry T. Gage Middle School located on Gage and Miles in Huntington park Cali 90255. Although i already Volunteer all those ideas listed are great ideas. If you help a pet shelter you can learn more about animals and get a look at there medicine. You might even have an advantage if you ever want to become a vet. By helping out hospitals you are close with doctors and nurses and that might help out if your a doctor. You might learn bed side manners, appropriate diagnoses name and get to take a closer look at medicine.

Helping out a coach or teacher is sort of different then helping out centers that help others. When helping a teacher most of the time you will be doing there errands and grading papers. When helping a coach sometimes you have to be a bad guy and make the kids follow instructions. Some kids just need a harder push then others when it comes down to sports. For example, I once asked the whole JV volleyball team at Gage to get in ready position (squat down). One girl didn't follow instructions and i asked her in a nice way again and she didn't listen. So i explained why we squat as a ready position and its to make us faster. As i asked the whole team one more time she just left the court. Sometimes trying to encourage a person doesn't always work as planned.

Helping the homeless out and doing Donation Drives for those in need might be the best options though. I suggest never do it alone because no one ever really knows what a person is capable of. I suggested helping them out because some of these people on the streets have kids to and some runways and need the help. Although others might not, some are out on the street because they have drug or alcohol addictions. There will always be great Volunteering Opportunities.

I believe in what Mr.Haymore is saying. I believe one person always has a choice 1 bad and 1 good and its up to the person deciding weather its the bad choice or its the good choice. People now a days smoke, drink and do other foul things that wasn't prohibited almost 10-15 years ago especially for teenagers. Now a days teens are out on the street all day and night doing what ever they please and giving there parents more stress then ever worrying. Yet, those or only a portion of teens who do those things, but they still influence others to do the same thing.The other portion of teens go to study groups at the library, check in with the parents, always ask before actually doing and have manners. Like it is to do drugs and drink you can also stay at home and help out your parent/guardian but its all up to a choice. Either a good or bad choice but you must be aware of the repercussions when you choose whatever you choose.

Another example of taking responsibility for yourself is saying no to peer pressure. Weather its from people pressuring you to smoke, drink or ditch or maybe just pushing you to have sexual relations. Its up to you to say no or yes. But just like any other choice you might have repercussions and must know what they are before deciding. If you say yes or no its because you either want to do it or you don't. Your choice should be based on you and no one else, just purely on you because if someone convinces you to do something that you might not want to do and you will regret something.

L.A.U.S.D provides many services for their students. Some include:

4. Graduation Requirements
5.College & Career Info
6.Scholarship Information
7. Online Learning for L.A.U.S.D

What all the services have in common is that each of them try and make your educational expericnes comfortable and successful. The reason they might want use to be comfortable is because if we aren't we might drop out early and disrupt other kids from learning. The reason they want us to be successful is to know that they have done there job. not only do we become successful but the teachers do also.
The LA Public Library services give us help on our homework and help us by providing books for as so that we know and understand the material we are learning and or might learn.
The athletic Services talks about the guidelines of each sport, When they are in season, when there upcoming games are and what sports each L.A.U.S.D school has.
The NO BULLYING policies talk about how it hurts people and why you shouldn't hurt someones feelings. Or that you shouldn't hurt someone period. Weather its mentally. physically or socially.
College , Scholarship and Career information is on the website as well. The reason we have these programs is for students who want to further there education passed High School. They assign you programs so that you won't be out on the streets after high school and so you get some sort of income.
Online Learning is only for those who might be home schooled or might not like to be around people. Maybe they can't be around people for whatever reason. That is why there is Online learning. So that no one has an excuse to not have an education.

You can apply to any of these programs and services by going to a guidance/college consular in your school or near by school that is part of L.A.U.S.D. Others might want to do it themselves, all you  have to do is go online or go out and find papers for a job or college nearby.

          This quote shows us that you cant only be smart or only be a good person. It shows that if you want to succeeded in life you have to be a good person and smart. The reason you need both to succeed is because they both come in handy in real life. For example, job interviews or based on your personality and your skills which is basically your character and intelligence. No one will give you a job if your a horrible person that does what he/she want but smart. Also, no one will hire you if you if your not so smart but just really nice, and they for sure won't hire you if you have neither qualities.

        This quote also shows that no one is naturally born a smart and good person they are taught this. Our education should show us how to be good people and also teach us to be intelligence. If you don't learn this at home then you should be able to learn this at school. Every person has a right to there intelligence and just be able to keep up with a good character in order for them to succeed.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not? 

    I think that being a Neonatologist isn't such a bad idea because then i would get to work with babies and their Mother. The down side to this profession is when a baby does not make it i will be the one who has to tell the family and it would be truly heartbreaking.

This quote is saying that many people don't have enough will power to quite what isn't good for them. For example, peer pressure can lead to a bad decision to smoking and smoking can lead to an addiction. Since smoking tobacco was such a large sensation back in the days many people still smoke today. If you started smoking at a young age and still smoke as an adult it become hard to quite. Addictions are easy to get but very hard to quite. What a person needs is will power and courage to stop everything bad in their life or else they might become unhealthy. Unhealthy in a physical mental or maybe even in a social way.

This quote is also saying if you are somewhere in the middle then you should start and continue what you must do. For example, High School students get okay grades and some think nothing about the future. What they must start is planning ahead and saving up for what every they need. Plans don't always go your way though so you must be prepared to fail at times. As you fail you must get back up and continue to do what you planned on and stick to it because that's your future and it mainly affects you.

Reflection:Do you think you would like to be one? Why or Why not? I would not mind becoming a orthodontist. It pays good money and i believe everyone loves a person with a great smile.

I believe this quote shows that lying causes a lot of un-necessary drama. It is true, a lie leads to another and soon your gonna be tired of it. As you get tired and stressed because of all the lies the truth will eventually come out. The truth isn't always so kind because you loose the trust and faith that person had in you. The reason all the trust and faith is gone is because some one decided to become dishonest with one another. No one is gonna believe or trust someone who is known to lie.

In another case you might not get tired of lying. You may be a great liar, for those people i honestly feel pity for you because it goes to show that your not honest with yourself. 

Some people might even cover up the whole life, but all it takes is one sentence or question to bring it all back to haunt you. And if you get caught in a lie you will have to face the consequences. Although, some people don't leave it to karma, they like to take matters into there own hands and fight fire with fire. 

Lets say you have a girlfriend and you recently found out she was cheating on you after 3 years of being together. You know of her affair but you don't let her know that you know what she's been up to. So you decide to make her feel the way you felt when you found out and cheat on her to. So she comes in your bed room and finds you with another women of course shes hurt and then you tell her why you did  it. And to your surprise it was a huge misunderstanding. .. But it's to late..

After that trust and bond is broken its almost impossible to get it back. Its almost impossible because that other person will always remember being hurt even though they might not remember what was the action that hurt them.

School Days Break

School Days Break

This school break i didn't do much. I mainly slept, watched Netflix, went out on Christmas, and finished multiple seasons of Teen Wolf in one week.

Some things i watched on Netflix was Jane the Virgin, Nikita, Bones, Teen Wolf (not on Netflix) and all this shows gave me one huge thought. I really has no life what's so ever.

For Christmas i went to mt Tia's house and there i met her boyfriend's family. It was nice we made cookies and had little creativity competitions. Later on around 9 on Christmas Eve we got to open our presents because we had another party to attend. I got clothes for a trip i am no longer taking, books, and a journal for my travels. After i thanked my Tia and her boyfriend for the presents i got and from there we went to my other Tia's house. As soon as we got there i missed my Dad so about 15 mins in i left to go be with him. When the clock struck 12 i wished him Merry Christmas and got all the things i used my Christmas money on.

The books i got were Witches and, The Book of Arthur and the Knights of the Round table because Iv'e always loved the stories and myths.
